ITOCHU Techno-Solutions Corp. (CTC) and GemStone Systems Inc., the
leading provider of the Enterprise Data Fabric, announced a
partnership to provide a data grid solution for financial computing
systems. With this partnership, CTC will market GemStone’s GemFire
Enterprise Data Fabric (GemFire EDF) and related software products on
March 18.
Recently, financial institutions have seen an
exponential increase of transaction volume in derivative risk
calculations, various computational simulations and algorithmic trading
for trade automation. High-performance computing systems built with
grid computing technology are particularly gaining a lot of traction
within the financial industry.
Users are not able to improve
total performance by distributed computing. For high-volume transaction
processing, the data infrastructure becomes the bottleneck (disk I/O
and network I/O bottleneck).
GemFire EDF provides a low-latency
solution to the data bottleneck. The data management infrastructure for
high-speed data access can be built with GemFire EDF by managing data
in computer memory (cache) and the ability to distribute data across
multiple computer nodes. The end result is much faster than disk.
By
using GemFire EDF synchronous and asynchronous data replication
capabilities, financial institutions can build extremely low-latency
systems which guarantee no data loss in data replication among servers.
Data synchronization between remote locations and the disaster recovery
sites can also be built with the data replication capability of GemFire
EDF.
CTC and GemStone jointly promote the large-scale grid
computing environment for the needs of high-performance, real-time
large transaction processing. Through the partnership, CTC will market
GemFire EDF as its high-performance data access solution.
Through computer programs with trading logics, it enables high-speed transactions simultaneously in multiple financial markets.
