NASA VET WARREN SMITH TO HEAD GRID GROUP AT TACC
Warren Smith, a nationally-known Grid computing expert, has joined the Texas Advanced Computing Center as manager of the Distributed and Grid Computing group. Formerly with the Information Power Grid project at the NASA Ames Research Center, Smith will start at TACC in mid-January.
GRID LINKS CANCER RESEARCHERS AT HARVARD, MIT
IBM and Massachusetts General Hospital (MGH), a teaching hospital of Harvard Medical School, announced that they are working together to study how the development of a Grid-based, distributed computing infrastructure can facilitate improved collaboration and information sharing among cancer researchers.

With OptorSim, a user can set up a Grid topology and list of jobs to run, choose a job scheduler and replica optimization strategy and watch the performance of the chosen algorithms in real time with the graphical user interface, or with the summary of results which is output at the end of the simulation.
