Oracle Sets Record TPC-H 1TB Benchmark Result
Oracle announced a new world record TPC-H performance benchmark result for
Oracle Database 10g and Oracle Real Application Clusters, demonstrating
scale-out and price performance leadership using Oracle clustering technology
on HP Linux servers.
Oracle Database 10g and Oracle Real Application Clusters ran on a 12-node HP
ProLiant DL585 server cluster, each with four AMD Opteron 2.2 GHz processors
interconnected with InfiniCon System's InfiniBand-based InfinIO 3016 switch
and host software, and running Red Hat's Enterprise Linux AS 3 operating
system. The system delivered world record performance of 35,141 QphH@1000GB,
with a price-to-performance ratio of $60/QphH@1000GB, with the Transaction
Processing Council's TPC-H decision support benchmark.
"This benchmark result shows that Oracle Database 10g and Oracle Real
Application Clusters on Linux provide superior decision support performance
and scalability on clusters of industry-standard servers," said Richard
Sarwal, vice president of server performance at Oracle Corp. "Oracle continues
to offer customers higher availability, scalability and manageability for
their applications and data."
"These results clearly erase any doubt about the scalability and efficiency of
Linux clusters in today's compute-intensive environments," said Efrain Rovira,
director of marketing for Linux at HP. "The industry-standard HP ProLiant
DL585 server allows HP to provide our high-performance computing customers
with the best price-to-performance ratio in the industry."
"Partnering closely with Oracle and HP, we have built a powerful and scalable
computing system based on our high performance, low cost, standards- based
InfiniBand solution," said Russ Hawkins, CEO pf InfiniCon Systems. "This is
another important indicator of our ability to deliver high-performance
computing clusters for the enterprise data center far ahead of the
competition."
Oracle has an extensive track record of delivering world record performance
and scalability. With Oracle Database 10g, the company continues to provide
customers with industry-leading capabilities that support their demanding data
warehousing and transaction processing requirements.
