Netegrity Announces IdentityMinder 6.0
Netegrity Inc, a provider of identity and access management solutions,
announced the next major release of its Netegrity IdentityMinder solution.
IdentityMinder Web Edition 6.0 provides enhanced flexibility, efficiency, and
ease-of-use for managing user identities across business applications. This
latest edition of IdentityMinder features support for relational databases, a
new Web service interface and further flexibility for user management.
IdentityMinder is a key component of Netegrity's comprehensive identity and
access management solution, which includes user management, provisioning,
access management and Web services security capabilities.
Reynolds and Reynolds, a provider of software solutions and services that
helps automotive retailers manage their operations and improve profitability,
is streamlining customer support through the use of Netegrity IdentityMinder
5.6.
"Web-based customer services play a major role in our business," said Steve
Kesler, director of information security for Reynolds and Reynolds. "Netegrity
IdentityMinder, overall, provides Reynolds with a flexible solution for
managing the identities of thousands of employees within our dealership
customer base. With Netegrity's technology, we've been able to
cost-effectively offer those customers the ability to assign and manage secure
single sign-on access to business applications within our Myreyrey.com
portal."
IdentityMinder enables organizations to improve overall security, reduce
operational costs, and increase user satisfaction and productivity for
Web-delivered applications. The new features of IdentityMinder 6.0 further
streamline the process of managing users and provide enhanced flexibility to
meet the needs of a wide range of business environments. New features in
IdentityMinder Web Edition 6.0 include:
- Relational Database Support
IdentityMinder now delivers user management services such as self-service
administration, workflow, delegation, auditing, and role definitions for
organizations that use relational databases as their user stores. In addition
to relational databases, IdentityMinder continues to support the
administration of users in LDAP. This reinforces Netegrity's mission of
providing a flexible solution that supports a broad range of IT
infrastructures and enables organizations to better leverage their existing IT
investments.
IdentityMinder's new Web service interface and support of the Web Services
Description Language (WSDL) standard allows organizations to expose identity
management tasks as Web services. This enables organizations to integrate user
management tasks, such as create/modify/delete users, self-service, and
forgotten password capabilities, into the organization's portal or expose them
externally to partners and customers, while still leveraging the automated
user administration services of IdentityMinder. This reduces development costs
for the organization and provides a more consistent user experience.
- Enhanced User Management Flexibility
IdentityMinder automates the management of user identities, including group &
organization memberships, role assignments, and profile attributes. With
IdentityMinder 6.0 Netegrity has further streamlined the management of users
with:
- More flexible role model -- Makes implementing roles easier by
simplifying the creation, management, and delegation of roles.
- Support for dynamic groups -- Enables access to applications to be
dynamically determined based on group membership.
- Support for nested groups -- Simplifies group management by
capitalizing on hierarchical relationships in order to minimize the
number of groups of users an administrator must manage.
- More intuitive user interface -- Provides a simplified experience
for business users as the interface is based on the role of the user
and the tasks they are allowed to perform.
"As companies continue to expand their online initiatives, the number of
external users, such as partners and customers, continues to grow
exponentially, presenting significant user management challenges," said Bill
Bartow, vice president of engineering at Netegrity. "With IdentityMinder 6.0,
Netegrity is taking identity administration to the next level by providing a
solution that is not only flexible and robust enough to accommodate varying
organization's needs but is also intuitive enough to make it easy for non-IT
personnel to administer users."
