InfiniCon Announces InfiniBand Interconnect Solution For 10g

InfiniCon Systems announced availability of its InfiniBand interconnect clustering solution for Oracle Database 10g installations.

InfiniCon is one of the first InfiniBand providers to complete Oracle's comprehensive test suite. InfiniCon's enterprise-class InfinIOä switching systems and host software are now fully compatible with Oracle Database 10g. The testing was conducted on Oracle Database 10g and Oracle Real Application Clusters running on Linux-based servers with InfiniCon's high performance interconnect.

"The future is now. Oracle today has thousands of customers successfully running their business applications using Oracle Real Application Clusters," said Juan Loaiza, vice president of Systems Technology Group at Oracle Corp. "Oracle believes that InfiniBand will be the key technology that enables us to keep scaling out to larger and larger clustered configurations. We are very pleased to partner with InfiniCon to bring InfiniBand technology to the commercial marketplace."

Enterprise data centers can immediately deploy InfiniCon's high-performance interconnect solution for Oracle Database 10g –- which provides Oracle Real Application Clusters with low latency 10 Gb per second switching. InfiniCon's InfiniBand implementation for Oracle Real Application Clusters utilizes IP over InfiniBand, which leverages Oracle's existing IP protocol support, and therefore requires no changes to an end user's Oracle software.

"InfiniCon has proven that clustering is a cost-effective database architecture," said Russ Hawkins, CEO of InfiniCon Systems, "and our tests have shown that high performance clustering with InfiniBand enables scaling of Oracle Database 10g at performance levels up to 40 percent over the existing Gigabit Ethernet network."
