Dept. Of State Deploys netForensics Security Info Mgmt Platform
netForensics Inc announced that the U.S. State Department has selected and
implemented netForensics nFX Security Information Management (SIM) platform.
The netForensics solution will play an integral and central role in the State
Department's Global Situational Awareness Fusion Environment (G-SAFE) program.
Following a lengthy review of various SIM products, the State Department
selected netForensics nFX based upon scalability, performance and stability.
The State Department's G-SAFE program is designed to correlate real-time
security event data from a multitude of sources from around the world, and
present threat and vulnerability information in real time to analysts, law
enforcement and Department management stakeholders. netForensics nFX will
monitor and manage the data generated from approximately 1,500 security
devices globally across the State Department's enterprise.
"netForensics provides the State Department with a global view into current
cyber threats and a clearer understanding of the vulnerabilities we are
facing," stated Mary Sue Holland, director of the Office of Computer Security,
Diplomatic Security Service, U.S. Department of State. "We will leverage this
platform to ensure that we are continuously monitoring the security posture of
our information technology resources, while measuring the effectiveness of our
compliance with security policy and Federal regulations."
netForensics nFX provides customers with support for a SANS-based, predefined,
security process, ensuring that Security Information Management goes beyond
gathering information to enable issue resolution. It enables customers to
gather high volumes of security information and intelligently interpret the
meaning and importance of the data in order to take action. netForensics'
unique methodology to perform security posture analysis enables security
analysts to not only monitor and respond to their company's overall security
threat score in real time but also, through multi-dimensional correlation of
threats, vulnerabilities and predetermined asset values, to pinpoint
immediately the target of the most serious attacks. netForensics' real-time,
intuitive platform makes threats easy to identify and supplies all the
integrated tools needed to stop and prevent them.
"This announcement once again illustrates that netForensics is the only vendor
capable of delivering an enterprise-class solution that is flexible and
scalable enough to meet Federal agency requirements," said Dale Klein,
executive vice president of field operations at netForensics. "The State
Department, like other Federal government agencies that netForensics is
working with, reviewed and tested multiple SIM solutions, and in the end,
recognized that netForensics nFX can help them meet both immediate and future
requirements. SIM is not about one specific feature or function, but it is
about being able to provide an end-to-end enterprise solution that is flexible
and scalable to keep up with an organization's ever-changing challenges and
needs."
