- The first week of September signifies the end of summer, but this year it
also marked the start of a major global alliance to build the LambdaGrid,

- Texas Tech has used SAS to Grid-enable various applications, focusing

- ENTERPRISE GRID COMES TO EMEA WITH EGA COMMITTEE
- With the launch of regional activity in EMEA, the Europe, Middle East and
Africa Regional Steering Committee (E-RSC) will liaise with other local Grid
associations, support EGA membership recruitment and retention, as well as
promote objectives, activities and standards adoption.
- SUN INTRODUCES FIRST PAY-FOR-USE COMPUTING GRID
- Using a pay-for-use pricing model starting at $1 per CPU per hour, Grid
cycles can be purchased in packs of hours through Sun. Sun intends to offer
a diverse set of computing plans and will also work with partners on a
wholesale basis to take this capability to various industries and geographic
markets.
- SCS, UNITED DEVICES BRING ENTERPRISE GRID TO ASIA-PACIFIC
- United Device announced that Singapore Computer Systems (SCS) will be a
key distributor of the company's Grid MP Grid computing software. SCS chose
United Devices due to the company's technical experience building
large-scale Grid environments for highly diverse global corporations.
- HP DELIVERS NEXT PHASE OF UTILITY COMPUTING
- HP's modular approach to utility computing makes it easier for customers
in volume markets to acquire and integrate the capabilities of the HP
Utility Data Center into existing environments and deliver information
technology as a service.
- BLUE TITAN GAINS MOMENTUM AS SOA INFRASTRUCTURE FOR FORTUNE 500
- Blue Titan's Network Director is uniquely designed from the ground-up to
leverage SOAs as a distributed services network, enabling enterprise
architects to scale reliable sharing and reuse of services across lines of
business, systems and geographies.
- IRI CONTENT-ON-DEMAND FACTORY TRANSFORMS CPG, RETAIL INDUSTRIES
- Developed in partnership with Acxiom Corp, the Content-on-Demand Factory
is based on a powerful state-of-the-art Grid computing architecture enabling
IRI to deliver daily data from select named retailers and InfoScan data
approximately three times faster than today.

- GEON, a ground-breaking five year NSF large Information Technology
Research project, brings together information technology (IT) and geoscience
researchers from multiple institutions in a large-scale collaboration that
is building a modern cyberinfrastructure for the earth sciences and beyond.
- GigaSpaces, VOLTAIRE TO RAISE ENTERPRISE GRID PERFORMANCE, ROI
- The combined solution provides a high speed messaging infrastructure
leveraging GigaSpaces' Grid-based solution for real time business
applications and Voltaire's InfiniBand interconnect solutions for high
performance Grid computing.
- SeaFire PRESENTS ULTRA HIGH-SPEED OFFLOAD ENGINE AT FERMI
- SeaFire has unveiled their Phase I development plans for an ultra
high-speed offload engine system, to be used for Grid computing
applications. The presentation was made on Sept. 16 to the United States
Department of Energy (USDOE), at the Fermi National Accelerator Laboratory
in Illinois.
