Versant Announces New Open Access Suite For JDO, .NET

Versant Corp announced its new line of products called the Versant Open Access Suite. Versant's Open Access Suite offers leading high-performance object/relational mapping and data persistence software designed for both Java and .Net developers. The Versant Open Access Suite is offered initially in two packages -- Versant Open Access JDO and Versant Open Access .NET. The product is designed to enable enterprises to broadly deploy applications requiring object persistence.

Products in the Open Access Suite come with robust features and platform support including:

  • Integration with leading development environments including Eclipse (supported by IBM and Borland) and Microsoft's Visual Studio.
  • Performance boosters include Versant's Hyperdrive technology, multi-level caching and configurable pre-fetch systems to speed up data access dramatically.
  • Visual ER Diagrammer, Query Builder, Performance Monitor to facilitate developers with multiple skill sets to use O/R Mapping in their projects.
  • Support of multiple technologies including Java and .NET and multiple databases including Oracle, Microsoft SQL Server, MySQL, Hypersonic, DB2, PointBase, Sybase, Informix, SAP DB, InterBase, Firebird, Postgres and Versant Database.

The Versant Open Access Suite for Java developers additionally includes the following key features:

  • Integration with lightweight frameworks like Spring and Java Server Faces to enable fast Web services development.
  • Support for enterprise class Web application servers including IBM Websphere, BEA Weblogic, JBoss, JRun, SunOne and Jonas.
  • In the future, Versant Open Access Suite will offer support for Enterprise Java Beans 3.0 (EJB 3.0) and Service Data Objects (SDO) standards.

The Versant Open Access Suite for .NET developers additionally includes the following key features:

  • Integration into Microsoft's ASP.NET Web services development, supporting the complete Microsoft architectural concepts.
  • Support for all .NET languages including C#, Visual Basic .NET, J#, Borland Delphi and all other MSIL compatible languages.
  • In the future Versant Open Access will offer support for Microsoft Visual Studio 2005 including all new standards and enhancements.
