G-CLUSTER GRID BRINGS HIGH-END GAMING INTO HOMES

IPTV set-top box (STB) vendor Amino Communications Limited and video game systems provider G-cluster announce completion of their technology integration project. As a result, G-cluster's advanced video games service is now supported across the entire range of Amino's AmiNET set-top box products, including the popular ultra-small AmiNET103 and AmiNET110.

Homes equipped with Amino set-top boxes can now play advanced video games without any additional hardware or game discs. The Amino set-top box connects to G-cluster's Grid of computer servers in the service provider's central office via broadband connection and receives game graphics and sound to display on the television screen in real time.

The AmiNET110 has full USB 1.1 support allowing subscribers to use standard PC or console gamepads and joysticks as input devices, as well as TV remote controls.

Mike Greenall, Amino vice president of marketing commented, "Telcos world-wide are starting to exploit on-line games as part of their strategy to reduce customer churn and increase broadband revenues. G-cluster's gaming technology, and the Amino set-top box, offer a cost-effective means to create a compelling broadband TV proposition."

"We are very pleased with the results of the integration with Amino's AmiNET IPTV set-top box products", said Thomas Schmidt, vice president strategy and development of G-cluster. "The combination of innovative technologies by Amino and G-cluster enables an easy-to-use console-level gaming experience on existing and future IPTV deployments."
