Engineered Intelligence Names Chun Xia VP Of Solutions, Services

Engineered Intelligence Corp announced that Chun Xia will lead the company's new custom software and services organization as vice president of solutions and services. Xia will report to Matt Oberdorfer, the company's president and CEO. As vice president of solutions and services, Xia will be responsible for bringing EI's technology and products, including the high performance MPI-XF library and EI's CxC parallel application development platform, into specific vertical markets. Xia's team will implement customer-driven solutions and drive product requirements into EI's R&D organization.

"Chun's appointment as vice president of Solutions and Services, and the formation of this team will enable us to provide customized applications that better meet customer needs," said Oberdorfer. "Chun's experience in customer-driven products and in project management will give EI a strong program to deliver solutions on a custom project basis, and then incorporate key ingredients into our leading parallel computing products. Working closely with R&D, the application-oriented development and performance improvement done by Chun's team will enhance our existing products and initiate new products and tools evolved directly from customer projects."

"EI's solutions provide a strong basis for customer-driven solutions," Xia said. "With the flexibility and capabilities of CxC and MPI-XF we can work closely with customers to develop parallel applications that address their pain points and provide a platform for growth. Our new team is committed to delivering high quality solutions that solve customer problems, and to give customers the ability to directly impact the products that EI is developing to best meet their needs."

Xia has extensive experience in high performance computing and application development, having worked on cluster computing projects in the EDA and chemical markets, among others. He was founder, president and CTO of Brightinfo, a market leader in e-merchandising and personalization technologies, later acquired by PeopleSoft, and of Thinkmart, a Web marketing solution company targeted to intellectual service providers. Prior to these ventures, Chun was a performance architect and a founding member of the initial utility computing project at Sun Microsystems. Xia received his Ph.D. in parallel computing from the University of Illinois.
