Alcatel To Resell Fortinet Antivirus Firewalls

Fortinet, a provider of ASIC-powered, network-based antivirus firewall systems for real-time network protection, and Alcatel announced they have entered into a relationship by which Alcatel and its business partners will offer Fortinet's FortiGate Antivirus Firewalls and other products. This relationship will help Fortinet significantly expand its reach to new customers through Alcatel's vast network of business partners. It also allows Alcatel to extend its CrystalSec security framework with the addition of a best-in-class integrated network security gateway product.

With Fortinet's FortiGate systems, Alcatel can provide enterprises of all sizes with affordable, easy-to-deploy gateway security solutions as part of a comprehensive network implementation. FortiGate Antivirus Firewall systems are complete network security solutions that protect against the growing number of costly, content-based threats at the network's edge, while delivering the highest possible performance. They combine antivirus, firewall, intrusion detection/ prevention, antispam, VPN and Web content filtering in a single, easy to manage and cost-effective system. All FortiGate systems are kept up to date automatically through Fortinet's FortiProtect Network, which delivers continuous and automatic "push" updates that ensure protection against the latest viruses, worms, Trojans and other threats -- around the clock, and around the world.

Fortinet's FortiGate systems allow Alcatel to extend its CrystalSec security framework with the addition of a best-in-class integrated network security gateway product and provide enterprises and business partners with the unique ability to source best-of-breed security solutions from one networking company.

"Alcatel's mission is to provide its enterprise customers with the industry's best value in highly-available, secure, and easy to manage networking solutions," said Tom Burns, senior vice president and general manager of Alcatel's Network Infrastructure Business. "Fortinet's ASIC-based antivirus firewalls let us expand our commitment to security because they address one of the biggest issues facing customers today -- protecting against a multitude of blended and content-based threats -- and do so without degrading network performance. In seeking a network gateway security vendor leader, we looked across the industry and found both a great synergy with Fortinet and their offerings to be superior."

"Alcatel has developed an impressive global base of customers and partners through its solutions-oriented approach," said Ken Xie, Fortinet founder, president and CEO. "Our relationship with Alcatel will enable us to continue to expand our market reach and bring our leading security products to new customers and networking-focused channel partners."
