Former Sun N1 Director Joins Engineered Intelligence
Engineered Intelligence Corp announced that Martin Patterson, formerly of Sun
Microsystems N1 Grid Systems division, will join the company as vice president
of software development. Patterson will report to Matt Oberdorfer, the
company's president and CEO. As vice president of software development,
Patterson will be responsible for managing the development of EI's family of
parallel software, including the high performance MPI-XF library and EI's CxC
parallel application development platform.
"Martin's appointment as VP of Software Development will help accelerate our
efforts in introducing industry-leading parallel computing software and
services," said Oberdorfer. "Martin's product development leadership in both
grid and parallel computing software will prove invaluable to EI as it scales
to serve the needs of the company's global customers."
"It's an honor to join Engineered Intelligence at this critical phase in the
company's evolution," Patterson said. "Matt and his team have built a
compelling parallel computing platform that immediately addresses the needs of
scientific and engineering companies who want to take advantage of the
ever-increasing power of parallel computing. I look forward to helping to grow
the organization, and to working with customers to ensure that our products
and services continuously scale to their needs."
Prior to joining Sun, Patterson was co-founder and vice president of advanced
development at Terraspring, a Fremont, Calif.- based company widely regarded
as a pioneer and leader in data center virtualization and provisioning
products. Terraspring was acquired by Sun in 2002 and its technology is used
to power the first phase of the N1 roadmap.
Before Terraspring, Patterson was a senior staff engineer in Sun Microsystems
working on a range of software projects encompassing network security, key
management, protocol design, systems management and telecommunication
products. He started his career at British Telecom and he holds an Honors
Degree in Computer Science from the Queen's University of Belfast.
