IBM Japan, Sumisho Electronics Offer Non-Stop Server Solutions
Marathon Technologies Corp, a developer and supplier of fault and
disaster-tolerant business continuity solutions for industry standard
Microsoft Windows environments, announced that its Marathon FTvirtual Server
software is being used in a new Non-stop Server product line offered by IBM
Japan and Sumisho Electronics Co Ltd (SSE). The products are sold by SSE who
combines the Marathon software with IBM eServer Blade Center or IBM eServer
xSeries server hardware to create highly affordable servers with "mainframe
class" availability. In addition to providing the server hardware, IBM Japan
also sells evaluation services for these solutions at their eServer Competency
Center in Harumi Koutou-ku, Japan.
The new product line features three Windows 2003-compatible server models: the
FTV-4U, using IBM xSeries 206 dual processor servers; the Blade FTV, using
dual-processor HS20 BladeCenter blades; and the LE FTV-8U, using xSeries 206
single processor servers with Hyper-Threading technology.
Marathon software combines two industry-standard servers into a single, fully
redundant configuration. Servers protected with Marathon software continue to
operate continuously through hardware failures and disasters without failover
or loss of application state.
"We are pleased that Marathon FTvirtual Server software will be part of this
new product line," said George C. Tranos, president and CEO of Marathon
Technologies. "As the trend toward utility computing continues to grow, so
does the demand for highly available, entry level and blade servers. Marathon
software was designed specifically to meet this demand."
