Opsware Continues IT Automation With Expanded Platform Support
Opsware Inc, a provider of IT automation and utility computing software,
announced support for a host of new platforms, including Sun Fujitsu servers
running Solaris, several versions of Red Hat Linux Advanced Server and
Enterprise Server, and SuSE Linux. The new platforms are supported in recently
announced Opsware System 4.5. With the addition of these new platforms Opsware
automation reaches even more servers in organizations' IT environments. The
Opsware System also already supports current and prior versions of Red Hat
Linux, Windows, Solaris, HP-UX and AIX.
IT environments are becoming even more heterogeneous, with the typical IT
environment running on average at least three different platforms, and many
versions of each platform. By supporting the broadest set of platforms,
including those most commonly seen in IT environments across Asia-Pacific and
Europe, Opsware enables IT to automate almost any server in their environment.
"The Opsware System supports more platforms than any other IT automation
software on the market," said Tim Howes, chief technology officer and
executive vice president of development. "IT can now bring more servers and
devices under management ensuring consistent management of all. We continue to
see strong demand for automation in Japan, where Solaris on Fujitsu is a
common platform, and likewise in Europe, where SUSE Linux is gaining
popularity."
In addition to expanded platform support, Opsware System 4.5 introduces the
Opsware Satellite technology to automate small clusters of servers in any
remote location, and the previously announced Opsware Extension Builder, which
allows IT to build custom automation modules to automate any unique IT process
and integrate with any other IT management system.
