- UCSD and four technology leaders (AT&T, HP, Alcatel, QUALCOMM) have
committed approximately $9 million over three years to the Center for
Networked Systems, a university-industry alliance focused on developing
technologies for robust, secure and open networked systems. Faculty from
SDSC and Cal-(IT)2, among other institutions, also are contributing.
- NTT DATA ANNOUNCES FIRST GRID APPLIANCE, 'cell computing BOX'
- "cell computing BOX," is a turnkey system that consists of United Devices
Grid MP software, server hardware and database software as a plug-and-play
package. "cell computing BOX" can also be purchased pre-bundled with
applications for life sciences and other industries.

- 3PAR, COMPUTACENTER TO DELIVER UTILITY COMPUTING TO U.K. MARKET
- 3PAR, a provider of utility storage, and Computacenter, a European IT
infrastructure services provider, announced a comprehensive partnership to
deliver utility computing to financial services and government organizations
as well as SMEs in the United Kingdom.
- NEC DEVELOPS GRID MIDDLEWARE FOR DATA CENTERS
- NEC plans to incorporate the newly developed Grid middleware into NEC's
VALUMO product series combined with the results of the Business Grid
Computing Project that NEC is participating in, which is led by METI
(Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry).
- UTT DEPLOYS CONTIVO TO SPEED PETROCHEMICAL PROCUREMENT
- Contivo's recently expanded capabilities and platform support enable data
integration across the enterprise, extending to legacy systems and Web
services.

- US UNWIRED SELECTS CORIO APPLICATIONS ON DEMAND
- US Unwired will deploy Corio Applications on Demand at their own site, and
application services will be administered 24-7 through Corio's global
network of Application Management Centers (AMC).
- NRC BUYS SUN SYSTEM TO AMP UP BIOINFORMATICS GRID
- Replacing two older enterprise class systems, the National Research
Council of the Canadian Bioinformatics Resource chose the Sun Fire E20K
server for its tremendous scalability and throughput computing potential.
- SDSC ENHANCES ZONE SRB TO SUPPORT LARGE-SCALE COLLABORATIONS
- New versions of Jargon (Java API for Real Grids On Networks), the SRB Java
API and SDSC Matrix have also been released. Matrix can be used as either a
Grid workflow management system or for SRB Web Services, and uses the Data
Grid Language (DGL) to communicate between Matrix Web Service clients and
the server.
