Meiosys Appoints Jason Donahue As CEO, President
Meiosys, a provider of transparent stateful dynamic application virtualization
and relocation solutions for utility computing and high performance computing,
and a provider of other technology for the fault tolerance market, announced
the appointment of Jason Donahue as chief executive officer and president.
Donahue will lead the company in its continued development and marketing of
innovative solutions that render applications mobile and highly available in
the datacenter, a key set of functions to efficiently manage tomorrow's
dynamic data center. Marc Rougier, former CEO and founder, will assume the
functions of chief operating officer, effective immediately. Meiosys markets
its products through major enterprise platform providers that incorporate the
MetaCluster product suite in their utility computing, fault tolerant and high
performance computing management solutions.
According to Andrew Schroepfer, president and founder of Tier 1 Research,
"Meiosys' MetaCluster dynamic and transparent stateful application
virtualization and relocation technology makes the datacenter truly dynamic,
allowing applications to utilize the most suitable resources at any given
time. This brings operational efficiency to a new level and dramatically
shifts the focus from infrastructure deployment to infrastructure
optimization, supporting projects such as server consolidation. In addition,
Meiosys' fault tolerant technology promises to be quite disruptive in that it
offers a potential solution for fault tolerance which could be an order of
magnitude less expensive than today's fault tolerant solutions."
Schroepfer continued, "I have had the pleasure of working with Jason Donahue
in his past executive roles, and I cannot imagine a more driven, competent and
experienced CEO to lead Meiosys forward. With Jason at the helm of Meiosys,
and with the technology they have already developed, this will definitely be a
company to keep a close eye on."
"Meiosys is pleased to have Mr. Donahue join the management team," said Bart
Markus, partner at Wellington Partners, and a Meiosys board member. "His
unique, visionary leadership, experience in the utility computing and data
center automation arenas, and unwavering perseverance to driving
organizations, combined with substantial global business experience and unique
understanding of software and IT environments, will fuel Meiosys' product
development and growth in the utility computing, high performance computing,
and fault tolerance markets".
"After leaving my last company, I had the opportunity to look at many dozens
of technology companies in the utility computing, data center automation, and
fault tolerance arenas. I have not come across a single company with more
differentiated and strategically valuable technology than Meiosys. Further, I
have been extremely impressed with the dedicated Meiosys team, and the
partnerships that the company has already forged with some major industry
players. This was an ideal opportunity for me to join some of the best minds
in the industry to harness Meiosys' core competencies in utility computing and
fault tolerance, to help build a powerhouse company," explained Donahue.
Previously, Donahue served as CEO and president of Ejasent, a utility
computing technology company, where he led the company through a successful
acquisition of the company for $60 million million by Veritas. Prior to
Ejasent, Donahue was CEO, president and board member of publicly listed
TeleComputing and then of the TeleComputing spun-out, publicly listed company
Apptix. Donahue took TeleComputing from tenth largest to number one market
capitalization worldwide among public application services pure-plays during a
12-month period, and subsequently positioned Apptix as the de-facto industry
standard provider of an application hosting automation software package. Prior
to his roles as CEO of TeleComputing and then of Apptix, Donahue was executive
vice president and chief marketing officer at Cap Gemini Ernst & Young's
Telecom, Media & Networks business, a $1 billion per year global systems
integration and management consulting practice targeted at the
telecommunications, media, Internet and corporate enterprise markets. At Cap
Gemini, Donahue assisted in the integration of Cap Gemini with Ernst & Young's
consulting practice (20,000 people) and the spin-off of the Cap Gemini
Telecom, Media & Networks' global practice into a joint venture between Cap
Gemini Ernst & Young and Cisco Systems, initially valued at $4.5 billion. In
late 1995, Donahue founded Telesphere Solutions Inc, a 51 percent-owned ADC
Telecommunications subsidiary which provided the telecommunications industry
with e-commerce systems. Donahue graduated with honors in Engineering and
subsequently obtained a Masters degree in Engineering Management, from
Stanford University.
