Oracle University Introduces New 10g Certification Program
Oracle University is offering a new, streamlined Oracle Database 10g
Administrator certification program, which is designed to certify Oracle
Database 10g professionals in less time than previous versions of the
certification program. Based on the new Oracle Database 10g curriculum, the
Oracle Database 10g Administrator certification program is based on 10 days of
in-class preparation and two exams for certification at the Oracle Certified
Professional (OCP) level, compared with 20 days and four exams for previous
versions.
The Oracle Database 10g certification program enables database administrators
(DBAs) to pursue three new certification levels: Oracle Database 10g
Administrator Certified Associate (OCA), Oracle Database 10g Administrator
Certified Professional (OCP) and Oracle Database 10g Administrator Certified
Master (OCM). Each level is designed to validate and recognize progressive
degrees of competency with Oracle Database 10g technology, usage and concepts.
Oracle University also plans to offer a new Oracle Database 10g Administrator
Special Accreditation program to formally recognize the increasingly
specialized knowledge of Oracle Certified Professionals in important data
management areas such as high availability, security, IT consolidation and
Grid control. OCPs who pass the special accreditation exam will receive a
certificate that formally recognizes their specialized competency. The first
Oracle Database 10g Special Accreditation will be the High Availability
Special Accreditation, scheduled for release later this year.

Select The Right Oracle Database 10g Certification Path
Oracle University's new Oracle Database 10g Certification path is tailored to
fit the desired competency recognition needs of Oracle professionals, and
includes these certification program levels:
- The Oracle Database 10g Administrator Associate (OCA) credential -- the
first step on the Oracle Database 10g Certification path for database
professionals that provides a foundation in the administration of Oracle
Database 10g. This OCA credential can be earned after as few as five days of
instruction and a single exam. Candidates can begin their exam preparation by
attending Oracle University's new course: Oracle Database10g -- Administration
Workshop I.
- The Oracle Database 10g Administrator Professional (OCP) credential -- the
industry-recognized acknowledgment for database professionals who have the
expertise to set-up and manage critical Oracle Database 10g functions at
maximum efficiency. Once a candidate earns an OCA certificate, the Oracle
Database 10g Certified Professional credential can be earned after completing
five additional days of training and one additional exam. Candidates can begin
their exam preparation by attending Oracle University's new course: Oracle
Database10g -- Administration Workshop II.
- The Oracle Database 10g Administrator Master (OCM) credential -- for the
Oracle guru, the most advanced database professional with several years of
experience and advanced training in Oracle technology. To qualify, candidates
must earn their Oracle Database 10g OCP credential and complete advanced-level
coursework with Oracle University. The final stage requires that candidates
prove their skills through an intensive two-day hands-on practical
examination.
- Oracle9i OCPs can upgrade to the Oracle Database 10g OCP level by taking a
single upgrade exam: Oracle Database 10g New Features for Administrators Exam.
OCPs can prepare for the exam by taking the equivalent Oracle University
course: Oracle Database 10g New Features for Administrators. Registration for
the exam began on June 1.
- Oracle8i DBA OCPs can also seamlessly upgrade to the Oracle Database 10g
Administrator Certified Professional level by taking a single exam: Oracle
Database 10g: New Features for Oracle8i OCPs. This exam will be available in
September.
