VERITAS Acquires Invio Software For Automation
VERITAS Software Corp announced it has acquired Invio Software Inc, a
privately-held, Los Altos, Calif.-based supplier of IT process automation
technology, in an all-cash transaction valued at $35 million.
Invio's highly-customizable process automation engine, which is already an
integral component of VERITAS CommandCentral Service 4.0, extends the
capability of VERITAS' software products that enable utility computing by
offering customers a tool for standardizing and automating IT service delivery
in key areas such as storage provisioning, server provisioning and data
protection.
With an intuitive, "point-and-click" interface, Invio's technology allows IT
managers to select from a broad range of out-of-the box process templates and
customize them to define, manage and automate IT processes for their
organization. Workflows can be used to define rules for application and
infrastructure requirements, such as ensuring that database provisioning
always uses a consistent underlying storage configuration. Services can then
be incrementally extended and evolved-according to best practices and company
policies-to continually adapt and align IT services with the evolving needs of
the business.
Using the process automation engine within CommandCentral Service software,
users can create and automate IT processes by linking together the
capabilities of VERITAS OpForce, CommandCentral Storage, Storage Foundation
and NetBackup software products, connecting people and systems into consistent
service delivery processes that are aligned with business requirements. As
with all VERITAS software, the process automation technology is open, enabling
it to integrate with other IT systems management products, such as third-party
automation and provisioning solutions as well as help desk and ticketing
systems. The integrated process automation capabilities have already earned
accolades from VERITAS CommandCentral 4.0 customers and partners.
