United States Coast Guard Selects VERITAS Software

VERITAS Software Corp announced that the United States Coast Guard has chosen VERITAS Backup Exec software to provide centralized protection of critical data across its entire enterprise. The software will support 38,000 users at 1,100 sites across the United States, worldwide sites and for all Coast Guard Cutters.

The United States Coast Guard faced reductions that would impact its ability to maintain a 24-7-365 staff to manage back ups. They looked to VERITAS to automate, standardize, and modernize their enterprise backup solution, enabling them to do more with fewer resources. The Coast Guard selected VERITAS because its solution has the ability to remotely schedule and launch backups and restores all from a centralized location for the entire enterprise within a four-hour time frame. Additionally, VERITAS software will work with the Coast Guard's existing tape backup hardware and is certified to operate with Windows 2003 Enterprise server and Microsoft Exchange 2003. VERITAS Backup Exec software will help the United States Coast Guard protect and serve citizens by helping to ensure mission-critical data is protected and continuously available.
