CERN OPENLAB ADDS NEW DIMENSION TO GRID COMPUTING
The CERN openlab for DataGrid applications, a partnership between CERN, the European Organization for Nuclear Research and five leading IT companies has announced a series of server and storage technical results regarding the first global science Grid -- the Large Hadron Collider Computing Grid project.

The move into Japan marks a significant milestone set by the EGA at its inception to address Grid issues in areas such as Asia Pacific, EMEA and the Americas. The committee's charter is to support regional activities including membership promotion and standards adoption.

FIPER is an enterprise solution that provides an infrastructure for real-time engineering design collaboration. FIPER 1.5 features an interface to LSF from Platform Computing to extend distributed computing capabilities.

AIR FORCE RESEARCH LABORATORY FUNDS HOWARD U. HPC/GRID CENTER
The winning proposal, titled "A Study Of Inverse Methods For Processing Of Radar Data," will investigate applications of algorithms typically used for geophysical problems such as oil exploration to the reduction of "clutter" in radar imaging.

BOISE STATE BENEFITS FROM NEWLY-DEPLOYED CAMPUS GRID
The Condor Grid currently consists of almost 100 computers, with more to come, and is being used to perform data-intensive work in varying fields. The Grid was the brainchild of BSU professor Elisa Barney Smith, with help coming from Micron Technology.

NEC DEPLOYS GRID SIMULATION SERVICES FOR CLINICAL USE
Doctors and other medical practitioners will be able to perform treatment simulations with the new Grid-enabled Medical Simulation services (GEMSS) project, one of Europe's first dedicated strictly for clinical use.
