GRIDBUS HEAD GETS StorageTek GRID FELLOWSHIP
Rajkumar Buyya, currently head of the Grid Computing and Distributed Systems (GRIDS) Laboratory at the University of Melbourne's computer science department, was named the first StorageTek Fellow of Grid Computing.

U.S., EU MEET TO EXPLORE GRID EXPANSION INITIATIVES
The European Union has already been working to spread Grid networking endeavors. Their high-speed research and education network, GEANT, is spreading to Asia, the Balkans, Latin America, the Mediterranean and Russia via the use of shared Grid resources.

McNealy KEYNOTE POINTS TO MAJOR SUCCESS FOR JAVA, THRASHES IBM
Sun Microsystems opened day two of its ninth annual JavaOne software conference with a keynote by Scott McNealy, Sun's chairman and CEO. McNealy focused mainly on the worldwide acceptance and use of Java, but did take time to send a message to IBM.
