GIMPS PROJECT DISCOVERS NEW LARGEST KNOWN PRIME NUMBER
Josh Findley, a volunteer in the Mersenne.org research project called the Great Internet Mersenne Prime Search (GIMPS), has discovered the largest known prime number. He used his home PC and free softwar as part of an international Grid of 240,000 networked computers in virtually every time zone of the world.

Evotec OAI is using the Inferno Grid to further speed up the drug discovery process. Around 250 of the company's PCs are connected to the Grid so that their spare computing cycles can be put to profitable use; a further 150 computers will be added in the near future.
