SCO UnixWare 7.1.4 Offers Enhanced Security, Web Services

The SCO Group announced the release of SCO UnixWare 7.1.4. The latest release of SCO's award-winning UNIX operating system includes new hardware support, enhanced security features and Web Services capabilities and marks another important milestone in SCO's commitment to continue to deliver high performance solutions to meet the demands of business critical application environments.

For the first time, a Small Business Edition (SBE) of UnixWare is now available for customers looking to affordably add the security and reliability of UNIX into their computing environment. UnixWare SBE is configured and priced for customers that need a full-featured, low-cost server platform supporting edge-of-network services. Other standard features include: file and print services, mail server, DHCP, Web browser, Web server, firewall, proxy server and a relational database.

"We continue to see strong demand for solutions with the power and scalability that come from UNIX based products," said Daniel Tracy, vice president of Team1 Systems. "The addition of a full featured small business product to the UnixWare platform should be an attractive option for our customers."

"SCO UnixWare has long been known for its rock solid reliability, flexibility and scalability," said Jeff Hunsaker, senior vice president and general manager of SCO's UNIX Division. "With new features, capabilities and product configurations, SCO UnixWare delivers high value to its customers. Additionally, the Small Business Edition product will introduce dependable UNIX solutions to a whole new category of workplaces."
