Breaking News - Security:
Reactivity Introduces Desktop XML Firewall For WS Developers
Reactivity, Inc introduced the Reactivity Gateway-D, the industry's first
desktop XML firewall appliance specifically designed to boost the productivity
of Web services developers. The Reactivity Gateway-D delivers all the
functionality of Reactivity's flagship XML Firewall in a PC-based appliance
that provides the easiest way for Web services developers to leverage the
functionality and services of the XML Firewall while creating and testing XML
Web services.
The self-contained Gateway-D creates an environment that allows developers to
focus their efforts on producing the most compelling, deployable Web services
rather than wasting time on writing security code or tackling integration
issues. The Reactivity Gateway-D simply plugs in to the development network,
and immediately provides the industry's most complete and aggressive security
and connectivity mechanisms for connecting Web services from heterogeneous
platforms, requiring no software downloads or system configuration. Developers
can easily create the required security policies using the Gateway-D, and then
seamlessly migrate them to the XML Firewall as the Web services move from
development to deployment, accelerating time to market. The Gateway-D also
alleviates developers from the chore of integrating their Web service with
enterprise PKIs, directories, single sign-on and management infrastructure.
Advanced administrative tools, including detailed audit and message logs, a
log event viewer with drill-down details, SNMP event reporting and
notification, policy validation and analysis and one-click policy rollback
provide the auditing and rapid issue diagnosis capabilities needed to assist
developers in creating and debugging security and deployment policies quickly
and efficiently.
"Our new desktop appliance saves developers valuable time and effort by
providing a seamless transition from development to deployment and making it
possible to secure critical XML Web services as quickly as possible," said
John Lilly, Reactivity's chief technology officer. "The Reactivity Gateway-D
lives up to our commitment to delivering the fastest time to market for
mission-critical, secure Web services by providing an effective tool
developers and evaluators can use to get started with Reactivity solutions
immediately."
The Reactivity Gateway-D appliance supports all mainstream standards, and many
of those that have yet to become approved or widely adopted. It supports HTTP
at the transport layer, XML at the content layer, RPC requests and parameter
passing at the function layer and a wide range of data layer validation
standards including WS-Security 1.0 and SAML 1.0/1.1.
"Reactivity's development solution has been instrumental in enabling us to
produce secure Web services more efficiently and deploy them rapidly
throughout our expanding global service-oriented application environment,"
said Christopher Crowhurst, vice president, enterprise architect for
Baltimore-based Thomson Prometric, a global leader in providing integrated
information solutions to business and professional customers. "As a result, we
are better able to respond to our customers' needs, accelerate the development
of new products and react more quickly to changing business conditions while
reducing the cost and effort usually associated with Web services
development."
