Breaking News - Security:
Phoenix Improves Security With cME TrustedCore Suite
Phoenix Technologies Ltd launched its Phoenix cME TrustedCore product suite,
next-generation software that improves security and manageability for
network-connected server, desktop, notebook and embedded systems.
PCs began as stand-alone machines that performed basic functions. Today,
nearly all digital devices are sophisticated network endpoints that are
increasingly exposed to malicious attacks, viruses and other security threats.
Phoenix cME TrustedCore products provide built-in device security and a secure
console-managed environment supporting system recovery applications from
Phoenix and certified third-party providers. The modular design and leading-
edge visual development tools provide Phoenix ODM and OEM partners with
improved time to market and better return on investments in firmware
development.
"Security is becoming much more important to our customers because it protects
their intellectual property and ensures that business operations can
continue," said Houn Soo Kim, executive vice president and general manager for
Samsung. "Phoenix helps our company deliver products with increased value and
trust. It's an exciting move that illustrates the industry-leading vision from
Phoenix."
Phoenix cME TrustedCore products enable built-in device authentication that
creates a "chain of trust" architecture that integrates with popular
enterprise standards for network system management and security. OEMs and
systems integrators have additional value-add potential with Phoenix cME
TrustConnector, a Crypto Service Provider (CSP) application that provides
additional secure links into Microsoft Windows operating systems and
application environments.
Yoshio Itoh, director of IT products division at Matsushita Electric
Industrial Co Ltd, said, "Our customers demanded a technology move that would
ensure security at the core of their systems. Phoenix has provided a
foundation that can allow us to build a new level of security into our system
designs while enabling trusted connectivity to networks."
Other industry-leading partners supporting Phoenix cME TrustedCore products
include notebook OEM Compal and integrated services provider Arima.
"Until now firmware has been designed as if the system is standalone. Phoenix
cME TrustedCore delivers a solution that integrates devices into network
computing environments," said Michael Goldgof, senior vice president of
marketing for Phoenix Technologies. "Phoenix partners throughout the value
chain -- systems integrators, OEMs and ODMs -- can now deliver business
solutions with built-in security and management capabilities that integrate
with enterprise security policy and management systems."
The Phoenix cME TrustedCore suite delivers the following unique capabilities:
Built-in Device Defense: Digitally signed Core System Software updates and
secure flash storage protect the heart of the system.
Seamless Device Authentication: Phoenix provides a built-in public key
cryptography engine that authenticates the device to the network or
application.
Visual Development Environment: Firmware customizations are now much easier
with Phoenix cME CoreArchitect, the industry's first firmware development
environment integrated with Microsoft Visual Studio .NET.
