Linux Networx Gets Into Grid
Game
Linux Networx announced its ability to provide Grid-enabled cluster
computing
solutions. The Evolocity cluster solution from Linux Networx can be deployed
with Grid software from Platform Computing and open source Grid standard
Globus to help customers make better use of IT resources and run jobs across a
Grid infrastructure. Linux Networx will be demonstrating its Grid-enabled
cluster solution May 25-26 at Gt'04 in Philadelphia.
The goal of Grid computing is to enable different computing systems, which
may
be geographically dispersed, to dynamically and virtually share applications,
data and computational resources. With Grid-enabled cluster systems,
organizations can make better use of existing computing resources by providing
users with a single, aggregated source of computing power.
"Grid computing is becoming a reality and Linux Networx is prepared to help
our customers meet this emerging wave in the High Performance Computing
industry," said Dean Hutchings, president of Linux Networx. "The cluster
expertise from Linux Networx coupled with Platform's industry-leading Grid
software provides a proven solution for our customers."
Linux Networx validated Platform LSF and Platform Globus Toolkit on
Evolocity
Cluster Systems. Platform LSF software manages and accelerates batch workload
processing for Grid applications, while Platform Globus Toolkit includes
connectors to provide interoperability with a wide variety of Grid offerings.
Both Platform products are compliant with the Open Grid Services
Infrastructure (OGSI) Specification. The OSGI defines mechanisms for creating,
managing and exchanging information among Grid services.
Platform LSF, Platform Globus Toolkit, and Globus Toolkit were tested and
validated by Linux Networx to ensure the tools run seamlessly over Evolocity
cluster systems. Platform is also a participant in Linux Networx's
state-of-the-art cluster testing and evaluation facility, the Solutions
Center. With Platform LSF and Platform Globus Toolkit software available in
the Solutions Center, customers and partners can validate their specific
applications on a Grid-enabled Evolocity cluster system.
"By partnering with Linux Networx, we are able to provide the HPC community
with a complete Grid-enabled cluster solution for high productivity
computing," said Rene Copeland, vice president of government at Platform
Computing. "Linux Networx Evolocity clusters deployed with Platform
Computing's software tools represent the best in cluster hardware and Grid
software to help organizations reduce costs, improve service levels and
enhance business performance."
