GGF ENDORSES, SUPPORTS Gt'04 EVENT
In a special letter from Steve Crumb, executive director of the Global Grid Forum, to GGF members, Crumb points out the accelerated interest and developments in Grid computing worldwide. In particular, he notes the energy surrounding the upcoming Gt'04 conference in Philadelphia next week, and the involvement of industry leaders in that event.

LARGE GRID PLACES TAIWAN IN GLOBAL RESEARCH COMMUNITY
Taiwan, with the help of IBM, looks to be improving its technological capabilities with the deployment of the Taiwan Advanced Research and Education Network (TWAREN) -- a research Grid connecting 11 universities and research institutes throughout the country.

VIRTUAL COMPUTE CLUSTER OPERATIONAL; GRID INITIATIVE AHEAD
The completed Grid will be one of the largest Grid-based supercomputers in the United States when complete. VCC's current carrier connections will allow Grid members to join from most of the major cities in the United States.

NLR ANNOUNCES LIGHTING OF PATH BETWEEN D.C., ATLANTA
Meeting the target completion date on April 16, Cisco deployed eight 10 Gbps Ethernet lambdas for NLR along the 766 fiber miles (1532 strand miles) between Washington, D.C., and Atlanta. Overall, the system supports expansions up to 40 10 Gbps lambdas.
