Extreme Networks Shows Innovative Converged IP Communications
Extreme Networks Inc, a leader in broadband Ethernet networking, showcased its
innovative network solutions that enable customers to build high performance
networks from the core to the edge NetWorld+Interop. The company also
demonstrated solutions for a single converged communications infrastructure
with its global alliance partner Avaya, as well as participated in key
educational sessions and served as the backbone sponsor for the InterOpNet
event (eNet).
New Technologies Demonstrated
Extreme Networks continued its legacy of innovation by demonstrating several
new networking technologies, including:
Extreme Networks' intelligent network core featuring the modular and
extensible ExtremeWare XOS Network Platform running on the BlackDiamond 10K
switch
Extreme Networks' Summit 300 wired and wireless switch and the Alpine 3800
switch recently enhanced to support Extreme's Unified Access (UA) for wired
and wireless. The Alpine switch now features Power over Ethernet ports, robust
Quality of Service and the integration of 802.11 b/g and a at the edge of the
network
Extreme Networks' Summit 400 switch providing 48 ports of Layer 3 Gigabit
Ethernet connectivity at the edge of the network with 10 Gigabit Ethernet
uplinks
IP Solutions Displayed
Demonstrating the benefits of its global alliance, Extreme Networks and Avaya
highlighted technology integration and network advancements that help
customers tackle the common challenges faced when building their IP-based
communications infrastructure. The two companies demonstrated how the
partnership assists customers in building a single converged network where all
applications and IP services can effectively exist under a common management
view, one which is simple to deploy, configure and maintain.
Additionally, Extreme Networks' booth featured a Solutions Showcase designed
to reflect each part of an end-to-end IP network and communications
infrastructure. The Solution Showcase featured best-of-breed IP video
solutions from Polycom, network security from Sygate, application traffic
management solutions from Packeteer and data center solutions from Dell.
