CSC ANNOUNCES RESULTS-DRIVEN UTILITY COMPUTING SERVICES
Computer Sciences Corp announced Results-Driven Computing Services, a
flexible, vendor-independent and cost-effective way for customers to tap into
computer applications and services on an as-needed basis without paying for
always-on capacity that could be sitting idle much of the time.
Results-Driven Computing offers clients with variable processing requirements
predictable, "pay-as-you-use" pricing, access to a broad range of options and
"just-in-time" provisioning using industry-leading security tools and
practices. In addition, clients obtain greatly increased visibility into their
infrastructure services and control over the most critical business processes
associated with them via CSC e4, the company's proprietary business process
management solution.
Utility computing is one of many technologies that fall under the umbrella of
Grid computing. Gt'04 -- a premiere enterprise Grid computing conference
targeting industrial and commercial users -- will gather experts, and outline
strategies and road maps for Grid deployment. The show will take place May
24-26 in Philadelphia. For more information, visit www.gt04.com .
CSC has provided components of utility computing services as part of
outsourcing offerings for more than 13 years. Results-Driven Computing
represents the culmination of this experience in a model capable of addressing
a variety of needs and multiple architectures. Because the concept of utility
computing is still evolving, CSC has developed a technology roadmap that
enables the integration of new tools into the service offering.
"The Results-Driven Computing delivery model allows clients to make more
efficient use of resources and enables CSC to serve the varied and fluctuating
needs of these customers more effectively," said Russ Owen, president of CSC's
Global Infrastructure Services organization. "Our vendor-independent stance
further enhances the offering by allowing us to tap an exhaustive array of
proven products and services to provide the right solution for each customer."
"Results-Driven Computing clearly elevates infrastructure into a business
transformation platform," said Andy Efstathiou of the Yankee Group. "It's also
an enabler for CSC to offer a broad range of services to companies that are
smaller than those it traditionally serves."
