Sygate Attracts Former Cisco Security Leader
Sygate Technologies, a market leader of enterprise endpoint security
solutions, announced the appointment of John McCormack as its new senior vice
president of engineering and development. Global demand for Sygate's endpoint
security solutions has fueled the company's ability to draw leading industry
talent like McCormack to its executive ranks. This management expansion serves
as strong validation for Sygate as it continues to raise the bar for endpoint
security by delivering technically innovative enterprise endpoint security
solutions to market. McCormack will report to Sygate CEO John De Santis,
effective immediately.
Prior to joining Sygate, McCormack served as general manager of the Secure
Managed Networks Business Unit of Cisco where he led a global implementation
team of more than 300 engineers, marketing and development experts responsible
for a broad range of security and network management hardware and software
products. During his eight-year career at Cisco, McCormack's organization
delivered many innovations including significant components of Cisco's Network
Admission Control (NAC) initiative and the delivery of the company's Wireless
LAN security services. McCormack has a strong track record of developing
enterprise class network security and management products including the
CiscoSecure Access Control Server, Cisco Secure User Registration Tool, Cisco
Secure Policy Manager and CiscoWorks products such as the Wireless LAN
Solution Engine. Before joining Cisco, McCormack spent nine years as a
development executive at Tandem Computers where he was responsible for the
development of networking and operating system software. McCormack holds
several patents in network information acquisition and presentation and is
recognized for his expertise in improving the efficiency of software
development organizations.
