Breaking News - Security:
Aventail, WholeSecurity To Provide Endpoint Security
WholeSecurity, a leading provider of behavioral on-demand endpoint security
solutions, announced that it has teamed with Aventail Corp, a leader in the
SSL VPN industry, to protect endpoint PCs against malicious threats that can
lead to electronic theft and costly business disruptions. WholeSecurity's
Confidence Online software tightly integrates with the Aventail ASAP 7.1
platform to ensure that all computers connecting to the enterprise
infrastructure are safeguarded against endpoint attacks that leverage Trojan
horses, worms, keystroke loggers and other eavesdropping programs.
Confidence Online delivers on-demand protection to both managed and unmanaged
PCs, including those that are not owned by the company. This enables companies
to maximize the benefits of anytime, anywhere network access, while
maintaining a high degree of security on endpoint PCs. To provide zero-hour
protection against known and unknown malicious threats, Confidence Online uses
a revolutionary behavioral detection method proven by third-party testing to
be more reliable and effective than signature-based solutions. Furthermore,
this method eliminates the need for users to download updates each time a new
threat is identified.
Web services, utility computing, .NET, CPU harvesting and distributed
computing are just a few of the technologies that fall under the Grid
computing umbrella. Gt04 -- a premiere enterprise Grid computing conference
targeting industrial and commercial users -- will gather experts, and outline
strategies and road maps for Grid deployment. For more information, visit

"Aventail has built its reputation on delivering remote access solutions that
are highly secure and easy to manage," said Sarah Daniels, vice president of
product management and marketing at Aventail. "As worm infections and Trojan
horses have become more prevalent, WholeSecurity's on-demand security
solutions offer the necessary zero-hour protection on endpoint PCs that our
customers are looking for. Integrating our solutions provides complete
security from the client to the network, while offering the flexibility and
convenience of an anytime, anywhere access environment."
To configure Confidence Online with the Aventail ASAP 7.1 platform,
administrators simply click on a check box in the Aventail Management Console.
Once installed, ActiveX and Netscape plug-ins distribute the Confidence Online
software the first time a user logs into the Aventail SSL VPN from a
particular computer, enabling security to be delivered on-demand to any
computer, at any time. Within a matter of seconds, Confidence Online downloads
and performs a scan that detects and mitigates malicious threats to prevent
eavesdropping, session takeover, and worm infections. The tight integration
with Confidence Online and Aventail ASAP 7.1 ensures that users are scanned
before they are allowed into the Aventail SSL VPN. If the scan finds malicious
programs, the login is denied.
WholeSecurity's unique on-demand delivery mechanism and proven detection
technology have been praised by industry experts, most recently in a March
report by Gartner entitled "Cool Vendors in Security and Privacy."
"We are honored to be a trusted security partner of Aventail and consider this
endorsement from a leading SSL VPN provider to be further validation of our
software's ability to deliver unprecedented security to endpoint PCs," said
Scott Olson, senior vice president of marketing for WholeSecurity. "Together,
WholeSecurity and Aventail offer customers the confidence that their remote
access technologies are delivering the high level of security and control that
they are accustomed to in the LAN."
