Inkra Licenses NextHop's GateD NGC 2.x Routing Software

NextHop Technologies Inc announced that Inkra Networks has licensed NextHop's GateD NGC 2.x routing software to serve as the primary routing engine for its Virtual Service Switch family of multi-function security switches.

Aimed at large enterprise and data center networks, Inkra's Virtual Service Switches help customers simplify security infrastructure management and minimize operations costs. Adding routing functionality via the GateD NGC 2.x software helps Inkra's customers save space, power and management overhead.

"As a leader in developing dynamic layered security systems, Inkra looks to add value for our customers with state-of-the-art, proven technology. By adding the GateD NGC 2.x routing engine, we have a solid solution that can scale across all our products, offering customers industry-leading, interoperable routing," said Anil Gupta, vice president of engineering for Inkra Networks.

Web services, utility computing, .NET, CPU harvesting and distributed computing are just a few of the technologies that fall under the Grid computing umbrella. Gt04 -- a premiere enterprise Grid computing conference targeting industrial and commercial users -- will gather experts, and outline strategies and road maps for Grid deployment. "Our customers require secure, highly stable and flexible, high performance network routing. We are excited to be providing a solution for Inkra. The GateD NGC 2.x routing software is now up and running on the VROS custom operating systems, helping to speed the time to get the product into customer hands," said Dennis Tsu, vice president of marketing and sales for NextHop Technologies.

About GateD Routing And MPLS Software

Over the last 17 years, more than 150 network equipment manufacturers including leading networking companies such as Avici Systems, Check Point Software Technologies, Enterasys Networks, Hitachi, Huawei Technologies, Juniper Networks, Nortel Networks, Riverstone Networks and Thomson have used GateD to provide IP routing functionality in their products. They have chosen GateD because it is the most memory efficient, fastest, scalable, inter- operable, and reliable set of routing and MPLS (multi-protocol label switching) software available on the market.

For NextHop's customers, these features translate into shorter time-to- market, a lower total cost-of-development (acquisition, integration, testing, deployment and support), and increased revenue.

The GateD suite of routing and MPLS software, includes the industry's most complete set of IPv4 and IPv6 unicast and multicast routing software, MPLS software supporting both RSVP and LDP capabilities, plus RFC 2547/VPN and Martini support.

In addition, GateD offers a powerful virtual routing environment (VRE) that supports thousands of virtual routers in a single system; support for a number of HA (high availability) solutions, such as VRRP (virtual routing redundancy protocol) and other fail-over mechanisms; a robust Advanced Management Interface (AMI) that complements the VRE and allows for hundreds of configuration changes per second linked to the appropriate Virtual Router, and a complete command line interface (CLI) for configuration and management that talks to the AMI.
