Wyse Blazes Thin-Client Trails
With Winterm 1000 Series Upgrade
Wyse Technology, a domain expert in server-centric computing (SCC),
announced
continued innovation in its leading Wyse Winterm 1000 Series of thin clients
with the availability of a new version of its Wyse Blazer operating system.
The most recent enhancements improve performance, control, and productivity
and lower total cost of ownership (TCO) through better access, management and
support features.
The Winterm 1000 series is a simple, rigorously optimized, low cost and
high
performance thin client for server-centric computing environments. Now the
Winterm 1000 Series features the latest version of the Blazer operating
system, a Wyse exclusive that is the result of customer input, technical
excellence, and seven years of market leadership and innovation.
Web services, utility computing, .NET, CPU harvesting and distributed
computing are just a few of the technologies that fall under the Grid
computing umbrella. Gt04 -- a premiere enterprise Grid computing conference
targeting industrial and commercial users -- will gather experts, and outline
strategies and road maps for Grid deployment. For more information, visit

"The Winterm 1000 -- one of the most cost-efficient fastest-selling thin
clients on the market -- brings better performance and manageability to a
cost-conscious audience that is looking for increased capabilities and
enhanced security features," said Mike DeNeffe, director of the Winterm
product line. "Blazer 4.4 represents the company's continued innovation in
server-centric computing by delivering more productivity to the end user."
New features supported by Blazer 4.4 include:
- ICA client 7 with Speedscreen browser for enhanced
performance.
- Support for RDP 5.1 audio for access to audio presentations and MP3
files.
- Wyse Rapport 4.0 device management software for enterprise-class remote
management, upgrade and configuration from an administrator's
console.
- 1280 x 1024, 8-bit video resolution for a larger screen area and
increased
productivity.
- ThinPrint optimized printing protocol support for server-based
computing.
- Touch screen support for ELO and MicroTouch (selected models
only).
The new Winterm 1000 features are part of Wyse's strategy to reduce IT cost
and complexity through proven server-based computing and centralized
management capabilities. The new features help empower users to do their jobs
and liberate IT staff to work on strategic projects. Wyse's success was
recently recognized by IDC as the leading thin-client vendor for the seventh
straight year, with more than triple the market share of HP.
