Security:
Thor, Booz Allen Hamilton Develop
Identity Mgmt Prototype
Thor Technologies Inc, a secure enterprise provisioning expert, announced
the
availability of an identity management prototype, developed jointly with Booz
Allen Hamilton, a global leader in strategy and technology consulting. The
prototype was created to demonstrate the critical role of Identity Management
in transitioning to emerging "Net-Centric" operating models. Net-Centricity is
a major transformation within the DoD aimed at improving collaboration. The
technical requirements for becoming Net-Centric include comprehensive
"information assurance" best practices that insure the integrity, security and
manageability of an entity's access across the network. The prototype adheres
to those stringent best practices and proves how a well-architected identity
management solution supports the Net-Centric vision for enabling ubiquitous
access to reliable decision-quality information across multiple communities.
The prototype will be available for demonstration in April 2004.
Web services, utility computing, .NET, CPU harvesting and distributed
computing are just a few of the technologies that fall under the Grid
computing umbrella. Gt04 -- a premiere enterprise Grid computing conference
targeting industrial and commercial users -- will gather experts, and outline
strategies and road maps for Grid deployment. For more information, visit

"We were delighted to collaborate with Booz Allen Hamilton on this Identity
Management engine prototype. It gives us the opportunity to demonstrate the
technical prowess of our product to deliver deep, secure provisioning in
highly complex environments, while maintaining incredibly high standards for
information assurance," said Alberto Yepez, chairman and CEO of Thor
Technologies. "This is yet another example of how Identity Management
initiatives solve pressing business, technology and security issues associated
with using the Internet as an open forum for information sharing and
collaboration."
Thor's industry leading product, Xellerate, is leveraged within the
prototype
to address several key information assurance challenges associated with
provisioning, including the ability to securely manage the complexity multiple
user accounts, efficiently distribute and maintain accuracy of identity data,
and manage multiple processes around approving user privileges. Booz Allen
Hamilton drove the creation of the prototype to reveal the full life-cycle
management of user identities -- which includes the creation, revocation and
reconciliation of multiple users -- across resources in two simulated
departments, within the DoD, the U.S. Army and the U.S. Air Force.
