MIRROR IMAGE SELECTS EQUINIX TO EXPAND GLOBAL NETWORK

Mirror Image Internet, a leading adaptive network for online content, application and transaction delivery, and Equinix Inc, a leading provider of network-neutral data centers and Internet exchange services, announced that Mirror Image has selected Equinix to expand its global Content Access Point (CAP) network to handle the increasing customer demand for its Web Computing solutions.

Mirror Image selected Equinix's Silicon Valley, New York and Washington, D.C., area network-rich Internet Business Exchange (IBX) centers for this expansion in order to provide customers with increased capacity and superior network connectivity.

As the demand for Web computing continues to grow and evolve, Mirror Image recognizes the importance of expanding its adaptive CAP network to provide increased intelligent processing and cache efficiency. By operating within Equinix's neutral interconnection hubs, Mirror Image has direct access to an aggregation of leading Internet companies, including every major network, empowering the company to deliver sophisticated content more efficiently.

Web services, utility computing, .NET, CPU harvesting and distributed computing are just a few of the technologies that fall under the Grid computing umbrella. Gt04 -- a premiere enterprise Grid computing conference targeting industrial and commercial users -- will gather experts, and outline strategies and road maps for Grid deployment. "The future of the Internet lies in the power of the central locations or 'hubs,' from companies like Mirror Image and Equinix, that offer the capacity needed to deliver complex content," said Jeff Marcus, vice president of operations for Mirror Image. "Expanding with Equinix was a logical choice for us as its connectivity is complementary to our CAP architecture. In addition, we are poised to handle the current and future demands for our Web computing solutions as Equinix provides us with immediate access to the providers that serve more than 90 percent of the world's Internet networks and users."

Mirror Image is using Equinix's innovative exchange services, including Equinix GigE Exchange and Equinix Direct, to effectively leverage the collection of network service providers available within the company's IBX centers. Equinix's efficient connectivity infrastructure enhances the speed and reliability of ISP and content peering, providing a more robust end-user experience and enabling buyers and sellers of Internet network connectivity to quickly, easily and cost-effectively establish business relationships. With Equinix, bandwidth purchasers such as Mirror Image are able to easily diversify their IP connections to any number of network providers, achieving more reliable performance and significant cost savings.

"Mirror Image joins eight of the top 10 Web properties and other Internet- focused companies that require the highest performing Internet operations through unsurpassed connectivity to service providers and Internet businesses," said Marjorie Backaus, chief business officer for Equinix. "Mirror Image's aggregated CAP architecture and breadth of innovative services combined with our unique environment that provides access to the largest aggregation of carriers for peering and transit, made Equinix the right fit to support Mirror Image's growth."
