Systems/Enterprise:
DMTF, BLADE SYSTEMS ALLIANCE
ANNOUNCE AGREEMENT
Distributed Management Task Force Inc (DMTF), the organization leading the
development, adoption and interoperability of management standards for
enterprise and Internet environments, and the Blade Systems Alliance (BladeS),
the industry group committed to advancing the adoption of blade-based and
modular computing systems, announced that they have entered into an alliance
partnership. Under the agreement, the two organizations will work to help
strengthen and speed the implementation of DMTF's server management and
utility computing standards using the DMTF's Common Information Model
(CIM).
"With a membership that includes end users, analysts, consultants and
vendors
-- all interested in the deployment and application of blade systems -- BladeS
will provide DMTF with an important feedback loop that will help us continue
to improve our standards and educate this community on the value of CIM," said
Todd Guay, vice president of technology for DMTF. "This is part of the DMTF's
ongoing work to provide management standards that truly meet the industry's
needs, and we look forward to this valuable alliance with BladeS."
"The DMTF will be making great gains for the blade systems arena, and it's
the
standards-setting body most relevant to our members," said Dennis Carlson of
Unisys, president of Blade Systems Alliance. "This alliance partnership
provides a key avenue of communication between those working on the DMTF's
blade standards and those who will be impacted by them -- the BladeS'
membership. Working directly with DMTF allows our members to provide important
input, and we're thrilled to be on board."
