NCS Unveils New Appliance
Platforms
NCS Technologies Inc announced the release of 2 new NCS Server Appliance
Platforms based on the AMD Opteron processor. Designed in 1U rack optimized
form-factor, the two new products are immediately available for ISVs to load
and test their application software for performance.
Pranay Prakash, executive director of OEM Servers & Appliances for NCS

flexibility of leading-edge 32-bit performance with simple migration to 64-bit
computing without having to change hardware platforms," said Ben Williams,
director of the Server/Workstation business segment at AMD. "NCS tailors their
product line to the specific needs of their customers, and their new server
platforms can offer the security, investment protection and performance
application developers demand."
The creation of unique 1-way and 2-way appliances provides appropriate
price
points that ISV partners may need depending upon their specific hardware
requirements.
The NCSAPP 120-A is a single AMD Opteron processor-based 1U rack-optimized
system and supports 8GB fast DDR memory. The 120-A accommodates 2 fixed EIDE
hard disks that can be configured as standalone or RAID drives. This appliance
comes standard with two Gigabit Ethernet interfaces. There is a free 32-bit
full-size PCI expansion slot available for additional network interfaces, SCSI
cards, SSL acceleration cards etc.
The NCSAPP 130-A is a very high performance dual AMD Opteron
processor-based
1U rack-optimized system and supports 16GB fast DDR memory for mission
critical applications. This appliance comes standard with 2 Gigabit and 1 Fast
Ethernet -- total 3 interfaces. There is a free 32-bit full-size PCI expansion
slot available for additional network interfaces, SCSI cards, SSL acceleration
cards etc.
Both 120-A and 130-A come with optional 16x2 LCD front panel with keypad.
Both
120-A and 130-A can run BSD, Linux or Windows operating systems and can be
completely customized to develop a final appliance product for ISVs.
