Resilience DX4500 VPN/Firewall App Dramatically Lowers TCO

Resilience Corp, an innovator in the development of fault-tolerant and high-availability platforms for Linux applications, launched the company's newest addition to its product line of "Secured by Check Point" security appliances. The Resilience DX4500 is an Integrated High Availability Check Point NG appliance that dramatically lowers the cost of acquiring and implementing a high availability security solution. Until now, all automated failover solutions for Check Point NG required multiple software licenses. With the DX4500 and its innovative design, only a single Check Point license is required, resulting in a much lower cost of ownership.

"A major concern for our enterprise customers is ensuring the uptime of their mission-critical VPN and firewall installations," stated Thomas Gegenheimer, vice president of North American Operations for the NetStar Group. "The new Resilience DX4500 appliance delivers a highly reliable security solution at an extremely competitive cost."

Web services, utility computing, .NET, CPU harvesting and distributed computing are just a few of the technologies that fall under the Grid computing umbrella. Gt04 -- a premiere enterprise Grid computing conference targeting industrial and commercial users -- will gather experts, and outline strategies and road maps for Grid deployment. Grid computing is here!

The Resilience DX4500 incorporates two integrated hardware modules in the same chassis, with no single point of failure. It allows fast, automated failover in a low-cost, non-clustered configuration. Configured as an active/standby system, the DX4500 requires only one software license, allowing customers to save substantially on software licensing and related costs.

"We are committed to providing the highest level of security protection for our confidential data," stated David Leong, IT director for Arnold Block Liebler Law Firm. "Secure access and reliable uptime are absolutely crucial. The Resilience high availability solution is extremely cost-effective and simple and is a key element of our firewall implementation."

As with all Resilience DX4000 appliances, the DX4500 comes pre-installed with Check Point VPN-1/FireWall-1 NG software and delivers excellent price/performance. The DX4500 replaces Resilience's mid-range DX4400 series. The main enhancement from the DX4400 to the DX4500 is the addition of the automated failover feature. An upgrade program will be available to DX4400 customers this quarter.

"As experts in delivering high availability security solutions, we constantly strive to deliver value and innovation to our customers," stated Ted Marr, chief executive officer of Resilience Corp. "The Resilience DX4000 product family is not only the easiest to use in the industry, but now with the DX4500, we offer the best value for automated failover."

In the event of a hardware or software failure in the active module, the Resilience DX4500 automatically transfers control to the standby module. All sessions and connections are immediately and automatically restarted. For business models that require full state synchronization with absolutely no transaction or session loss, Resilience also offers their top-of-the-line DX4600 series incorporating Check Point Cluster XL software. The DX4500 can also be easily upgraded to the DX4600 if full state synchronization is required at a later date.

The entry level models of the DX4500 series start at robust throughput levels of 600 Mbps firewall and 200 Mbps VPN throughput. The high end of the DX4500 series offers dual processors and performance of up to 1.5Gbps firewall and 600Mbps VPN throughput. This choice of performance models allows businesses to choose and pay for only the throughput level that meets their network requirements.
