EGENERA ANNOUNCES TECHNOLOGY
ALLIANCE WITH XCEEDIUM
Egenera Inc, a leader in utility computing, announced a technology alliance
with Xceedium, a world leader in SSL VPN+ secure remote access and management.
Xceedium's flagship product, the Xio UAG Universal Access Gateway, has been
tested by Egenera and validated for use with the Egenera BladeFrame system. As
a result, Xceedium has earned membership in Egenera's Accelerate Alliance
Program, and Egenera has joined the Xceedium Partner Program.
Xio UAG, the extensible in-band and out-of-band Universal Access Gateway,
is
the world's first All-in-One SSL VPN+ Remote Access Management solution. It is
a versatile and powerful network appliance offering users unprecedented
flexibility and capability in accessing company systems and network devices
from remote locations. Meeting the needs of system and network administrators,
as well as business end-users, the product offers a comprehensive solution for
controlled, remote access to and management of critical IT infrastructure from
anywhere, at any time.
Web services, utility computing, .NET, CPU harvesting and distributed
computing are just a few of the technologies that fall under the Grid
computing umbrella. Gt04 -- a premiere enterprise Grid computing conference
targeting industrial and commercial users -- will gather experts, and outline
strategies and road maps for Grid deployment. For more information, visit
www.gt04.com.

Xio UAG serves as a secure front end to the BladeFrame system, further
centralizing access to management and giving system administrators and
application-support teams both more granular and a wider spectrum of entry
into the Egenera platform. The Xceedium solution immediately integrates into
the BladeFrame via SSH and via Egenera PAN Manager software's out-of-band,
Web-based management utility. All access is provided via 128-bit encryption.
Xio UAG's SSL VPN+ technology enables Egenera customers to further strengthen
remote access to, and perimeter security around, their BladeFrame systems.
"We are very pleased to be working with Egenera," said Sam Balooch, CEO of
Xceedium. "Their BladeFrame system and our Xio UAG SSL VPN+ appliance are
ideally suited for world-class customers running mission-critical applications
across far-flung operations. Both products reduce complexity, simplify
management and lower costs while optimizing security--a win-win scenario few
solutions can offer. Moreover, each company is enjoying excellent traction in
targeted industries, making our go-to-market strategies highly
compatible."
"Both Xio UAG and the BladeFrame are third-generation technologies which
surpass the capabilities of incumbent, legacy solutions," noted Vern Brownell,
founder and chief technology officer of Egenera. "Our BladeFrame system
remains the only commercially available platform that enables customers to
implement utility computing. Likewise, Xio UAG gives multi-site enterprises a
proven alternative to expensive IPSec VPN solutions for enabling secure remote
access. We look forward to continued collaboration and to bringing the
benefits of our respective technologies to mutual customers."
