SIIA To Use Rainbow SSL VPN To
Conduct Codie Voting Online
Recognizing a simpler, more secure and "paperless" way to conduct voting,
the
Software & Information Industry Association (SIIA) will use the Rainbow
Technologies NetSwift iGate SSL VPN to enable 2004 Codie Awards finalist
judges from around the globe to securely vote online. Voting will be completed
with Rainbow's iKey USB token that takes judges to a secure site easily,
automatically and securely. The SIIA Codie Awards is the longest running and
most prestigious awards program in the software industry.
"As the principal trade association for the software and digital content
industry, we are always looking for ways to keep our organization innovative
and evolving," said Ken Wasch, president of SIIA. "Rainbow's NetSwift iGate
complements these goals by automating the voting and tallying functions and
making the process more efficient. It provides the perfect way to balance
security with ease of use."
To vote, judges will insert a Rainbow iKey USB token into the computer's
USB
port, go to a secure Web site, enter a PIN login and start voting. When
finished, removing the iKey will automatically and securely log them off of
the site.
"The SIIA's use of Rainbow's SSL VPN for the 2004 Codie Awards further
validates it as the best choice for secure remote access," said Bernie Cowens,
vice president of security services for Rainbow Technologies. "NetSwift iGate
can be used by any organization that needs to provide remote access to its
constituents, but does not want to hassle with integrating and reconfiguring
its network infrastructure."
