Breaking News - Security:

Reconnex Product Prevents Disclosures Of Critical Info

Reconnex, an enterprise security company pioneering the development of high performance security appliances to prevent disclosures of confidential information, announced the availability of the G2 Content Analyzer and two applications -- the Reconnex Company Confidential Solution and Reconnex Privacy Compliance Solution. This flagship offering consisting of a hardware-based network security appliance and application suite is designed to safeguard Fortune 500 companies from the loss of critical corporate information, such as intellectual property, by identifying and preventing disclosures that occur over a corporate network that can cause devastating financial losses and irreparable damage. Designed to prevent all types of disclosures starting on the network -- whether accidental or malicious and sophisticated in nature -- Reconnex's G2 Content Analyzer is the first hardware-based security appliance with the speed, accuracy and scalability needed to protect classified corporate information specific to the financial, technology, government and pharmaceutical industries.

"An exorbitantly high percent of confidential information disclosures originate from within an organization as a result of innocent mistakes by employees, such as when the military budget plan accidentally ended up on Internet earlier this month. This innocent mistake was a devastating blow for the Department of Defense who vigilantly maintains the strictest secrecy to protect our national security," said Don Massaro, president and CEO of Reconnex. "Our solutions enable companies to effectively reduce the occurrence of accidental breaches, but we are not naive. While most breaches are accidental or unintentional, the reality is some are deliberate and malicious as in the case of industrial espionage and cyber terrorism. Our solutions had to be sophisticated enough to detect both and distinguish the accidental from the intentional disclosure."

Web services, utility computing, .NET, CPU harvesting and distributed computing are just a few of the technologies that fall under the Grid computing umbrella. Gt04 -- a premiere enterprise Grid computing conference targeting industrial and commercial users -- will gather experts, and outline strategies and road maps for Grid deployment. The sophisticated nature of the Reconnex G2 Content Analyzer allows it to detect steganography -- the practice of embedding secret messages inside any digital media, such as digital photos or audio files. Digital media files with hidden secret messages using steganography appear normal to the common observer and it is nearly impossible to suspect that anything unusual is taking place. By providing the first hardware-based product with enough processing capability to detect steganographic messages sent over high-speed networks, enterprises now have the ability to stop the most insidious forms of industrial espionage and Government agencies now have a commercial product capable of uncovering secret methods of communications used by terrorist organizations.

G2 Content Analyzer -- The Reconnex Company Confidential Solution

Intellectual property theft costs Fortune 1000 companies billions of dollars each year. Many disclosures of intellectual property are accidental and caused by innocent employees trying to do their job. For example, an innocent mistake could lead to a company's intellectual property getting into the hands of a competitor or classified information being divulged over unclassified networks. Regardless, the ramifications are catastrophic. The Reconnex Company Confidential Solution is designed to prevent these types of mistakes because it looks for unacceptable traffic sent in a multi-development chain and is deployable in remote, overseas or third party development centers. The Reconnex Company Confidential Solution recognizes source code, confidential design documents or any type of classified information communicated over any network communication protocol and can track all communication with competitors.

"As we expand our worldwide business through innovation and creativity, it's critical that we protect our intellectual property and the material information in support of our business," said Paul Hooper, CIO of Extreme Networks. "The Reconnex solution is very valuable since it delivers on the promise of improving our protection against security threats associated with the accidental disclosure of intellectual property."

But, not all disclosures are so innocent. The Reconnex Company Confidential Solution is sophisticated enough to recognize the intrinsic essence of all file formats so that documents can be tracked even if the file name or extension is modified or changed. For the more insidious forms of industrial espionage, the Reconnex Company Confidential Solution detects encrypted information and steganograhic messages and provides alerts if this suspicious traffic is detected.

G2 Content Analyzer -- The Reconnex Privacy Compliance Solution

The majority of privacy violations are accidental oversights capable of affecting millions of customers as in the case when thousands of credit card numbers are disclosed via a website. Today, many privacy violations not only result in hefty fines, but also require companies to notify every customer who then has an option to take legal recourse. The Reconnex Privacy Compliance Solution is aimed to help financial service providers, the pharmaceutical industry, and e-retailers, take the guesswork out of complying by providing a "snap shot" of the sensitive information that was exposed so companies know with 100 percent confidence which customers were affected. It monitors the network for privacy violations as defined by Federal and State regulations and provides real-time alerts so that privacy compliance officers can take the appropriate action within minutes.

Hardware Enables More Processing for Accuracy -- Fewer False Positives

False positives are a serious hindrance to IT staff causing them to chase phantoms and never correlate the actual security event to the disclosure of information that occurred over at the content layer of the network. The Reconnex G2 Content Analyzer is the first high performance security appliance of its kind to address this with purpose built hardware for speed, accuracy and scalability. At the heart of the technology, is a high performance Real-time Content Processing Engine (RCPE) capable of analyzing all the information flowing over the corporate network. This engine has the ability to capture, classify, reconstruct and store content flowing over the network at gigabit speeds. Using patent-pending acceleration techniques, the G2 Content Analyzer offloads the computationally intensive processing of core primitives to hardware. This purpose built hardware enables the G2 Content Analyzer to offer the most accurate, most computationally content recognition techniques that correlate events to actual disclosures of information allowing customers to win the battle against false positives. At the click of a mouse, events are tied to what the exposure looked like, what information was leaked, who sent the information and where it was going. All incidents discovered are securely stored in a way that is legally-binding for the purposes of future computer forensic investigation and can be used "as is" in a court of law.

Scaleable with Zero Impact to The Network -- Just Plug and Play

The Reconnex G2 Content Analyzer is built for scalability so that it can be deployed anywhere in an organization regardless of file formats, user sophistication, network protocol, application type or network typology. As a hardware appliance, the G2 Content Analyzer is deployable in minutes and can sit anywhere on the network -- interdepartmentally or at exits of an enterprise network. The Reconnex commitment to building zero impact solutions means the G2 Content Analyzer can be deployed without ever needing to touch client desktops or change servers, databases or network storage solutions. The benefit to customers is that they can deploy a robust solution without making changes to their network architecture or employees' business workflow. As a non-intrusive, passive device, the G2 Content Analyzer can be deployed on any switch or router without impacting network performance, reliability or availability.
