Netreo Introduces New Security
Platform
Netreo unveiled its new Securitas line of Network Intrusion Detection
Systems
(NIDS) to complement and integrate with the existing Omniscient family of IT
and security management products. Securitas is implemented as an
appliance-based, rack-mountable solution with an emphasis on real-time
reporting and simple administration. The design allows the product to be
rapidly deployed and easily customized, which results in dramatically reduced
false alarms.
As a NIDS product, Securitas provides real-time alarming and reporting
capabilities to help safeguard IT environments from the threat of security
breaches, including those caused by virus or automated worm activity. The
product is configured to monitor connected network segments for suspicious
network activity and alert the appropriate IT resources when a pre-configured
signature is detected. Network security and IT personnel have quick access to
critical information from anywhere in the world using the web-based
interface.
"By building on our strengths in simplifying complex tools, we have created
a
powerful, proactive tool that will dramatically improve the security of our
customer's IT infrastructure," said James Mancini, chief technology officer.
"Reducing the administrative overhead required to manage an Intrusion
Detection System dramatically reduces the total cost of ownership."
Securitas products integrate easily into the Omniscient architecture to
provide integrated fault, performance and real-time security status reporting
across an enterprise network. Securitas also supports a secure VPN
architecture, permitting remote monitoring and customization, software
revision updates and optional ongoing managed services.
