DCML DOUBLES MEMBERSHIP WITHIN THREE MONTHS OF INCEPTION

The Data Center Markup Language (DCML) Organization announced it has doubled its membership to 54 members since launching last fall, expanding the number of companies committed to supporting the industry-wide DCML standard. The 10 new members of the DCML Organization include software, services and Web management companies AssuredWeb, Blazent, Cadena Software, Covalent Technologies, Etagon, NetContinuum, Peregrine Systems Inc, Qlusters, Speedera Networks and Tideway Systems.

Led by governing members Computer Associates, EDS and Opsware, the DCML initiative continues to gain the support of leading technology companies committed to bringing uniformity, IT system interoperability and utility computing to data centers. DCML members have direct involvement in helping further define the DCML standard and influence the adoption and implementation of the DCML specification.

DCML is the first vendor-neutral, open language that empowers corporations with the most detailed, accurate and up-to-date information about their data centers. DCML describes data center environments, dependencies between data center components and the policies governing management and construction of those environments. Automation and utility computing systems require a common understanding of the data center, making DCML a key component to realizing a utility computing environment.

Organization Plans First Quarterly Member Meeting

The DCML organization will hold its first quarterly member meeting on March 2-3 in Plano, Texas. Hosted by governing member EDS, the meeting will focus on development of the DCML specification and technical roadmap, which is scheduled to be released midyear. The specification is based on a mutually agreed upon DCML Framework which provides the structure, definition, processing rules and other important features common to DCML work.
