Qwest Wins Multi-Million Dollar NASA Networking Deal

Qwest Commmunications has been selected to provide high-speed optical networks to three West Virginia research centers. One of the three is the NASA Independent Verification and Validation Facility, located in Fairmont.

The contract is for five years and is in the multi-million dollar range. The NASA IVV facility will be linked with the West Virginia University Research Corp and the National Energy Technology Laboratory, both in Morgantown, via a OC-12 optical network.

The netowrk also will enable connectivity to other organization throughout the nation, including the Pittsburgh Supercomputing Center terascale computer.
