Oracle Simplifies Outsourcing
Costs With User-Based Pricing
Oracle unveiled new user-based pricing for outsourcing designed to offer
companies more flexibility and predictability in managing their information
technology (IT) costs. The new model allows companies to license Oracle
software as a managed option on a per-user basis, making outsourcing an even
more cost-effective service alternative.
Oracle's new outsourcing pricing options offer the flexibility of a
user-based
model that can adapt to shifting customer requirements -- eliminating
inefficiencies that result when companies overspend to compensate for
unpredictable future IT needs. User-based pricing creates transparent IT
budgets, so customers pay only for what is used. With predictable costs and
increased visibility into IT budgets, companies can accurately forecast how to
allocate budget throughout the year.
"Employee-based pricing is the next evolution of outsourced licensing
options
and reflects where Oracle feels the software industry is headed," said
Jacqueline Woods, Oracle vice president of Global Practices, Global Pricing
and Licensing Strategy. "This pricing demonstrates Oracle's commitment to
providing levels of service that adapt to the changing business needs of our
customers."
Lower, Predictable Costs
With Oracle Outsourcing, Oracle experts manage its customers' software to
improve the availability, security, performance and management of their
information infrastructure. Outsourcing provides companies with a lower total
cost of ownership by allowing companies to spend less time and money
maintaining their Oracle applications and more time focusing on strategic
projects.
"Customers express a desire for a cost model for outsourcing that will more
accurately reflect their IT usage," said Amy Mizoras Konary, program manager
for Software Pricing, Licensing and Delivery research at IDC. "With an
increasing number of customers turning to Oracle Outsourcing for the
maintenance and management of their IT systems, it is important that Oracle
offer these outsourcing customers flexible pricing options."
