WMPI II Provides Support For Wide
Range Of Linux Platforms
Critical Software Inc announced that its leading MPI-2 middleware product
--
WMPI II -- now provides support for a wide range of Linux platforms.
In 2003, WMPI II was the first MPI-2 implementation for Microsoft Windows
to
be commercially available in the market. With the release of WMPI II Linux for
a wide range of Linux platforms, Critical Software has become the provider of
the most comprehensive MPI-2 offering in the market, spanning both reference
platforms.
WMPI II now supports a large number of Linux distributions including
versions
from Red Hat, SuSE, Mandrake, Turbolinux, Debian, Slackware and Gentoo, as
well as Microsoft Windows NT, 2000, XP, and 2003 Server. Furthermore, Linux
and Windows nodes can interoperate transparently using WMP II.
Some key features of WMPI II are:
- Full MPI-2 Standard Compliant
- Heterogeneous Cluster Support
- Thread-safe, OpenMPT Ready
- Internally Multithreaded, No Polling
- Extensive C++ & Fortran Compiler Support
- Remote distributed Installation and Automatic Configuration
WMPI II is the high-end of Critical Software's suite of middleware products
for HPC, which already include WMPI (based on version 1.2 of the standard) and
Patent MPI. These products have achieved high recognition among the HPC
community in the past and are being used by a wealth of customers in the
telecom, defense, aeronautics, finance, automotive, and energy industries.
Companies where Critical Software middleware runs include Deutsche Telekom,
IBM, Landmark Graphics, British Aerospace, Chevron-Texaco, Hitachi and BP
Amoco, among many others.
Critical MPI middleware has been also adopted by a large number of OEM's
and
ISV's providing cluster-enabled specific applications for the sectors
above.
"The comprehensive support for Linux was the missing piece in our
middleware
offer. This is why this release pushes our product portfolio a leap forward
and turns Critical Software into the only vendor with a compatible and
fully-featured MPI-2 implementation, simultaneously for Windows and Linux,"
Délio Almeida, marketing and sales manager, said.
