Norvergence Standardizes On BEA WebLogic Platform 8.1

BEA Systems Inc, a leading application infrastructure software company, announced that Norvergence, a provider of telecommunications services for growing companies, has adopted BEA WebLogic Platform 8.1 as its standard for enterprise application development, deployment and integration.

Norvergence is a $200 million business equipment and systems engineering company that provides "next-generation" communications equipment designed to help businesses reduce the cost of voice and data services by as much as 60 percent. The company is using BEA WebLogic Platform to help simplify and accelerate the rollout of essential applications, including those that track thousands of sales leads daily, manage order fulfillment, perform credit checks, monitor the performance of the sales force, calculate and log commissions, generate proposals, schedule installations, and manage trouble tickets. Norvergence is also using the business process management capabilities in BEA WebLogic Integration that are designed to automate many workflows and increase organizational productivity.

"We're only a three-year-old company, but we have a billion-dollar vision and we're conducting ourselves the way successful companies do," said Alex Wolf, chief operating officer at Norvergence. "That's why we're already over $200 million in revenue and adding dozens of employees monthly. BEA WebLogic is a big part of the story. It's a true enterprise platform. Its ease of development and integration have accelerated time to value from our information technology projects and improved access to information. And, the platform's openness and extensibility make it an ideal foundation for our rapidly expanding company."

Norvergence began building on BEA WebLogic Platform 7.0, and is now migrating to version 8.1. The company cited BEA WebLogic's unsurpassed support for current and emerging Java specifications, outstanding reputation throughout the telecom industry, simplified development environment, and innovative product roadmap as critical factors in the initial purchase decision. "Our original processes included spreadsheets, email, and post-its," said Wolf. "We knew that process wasn't going to carry us far, so early on we began evaluating enterprise platforms. We liked the fact that the WebLogic Platform is designed to start out small and scale without growing pains. And perhaps most importantly, we found the BEA platform to be easier to use. Our developers were productive almost immediately. And for sophisticated applications, such as Web services, BEA can remove the complexity."
