SITA SC, Aventail To Deliver An SSL VPN Managed Service

Aventail Corp, a leading SSL VPN product company, announced that SITA SC has added Aventail's SSL VPN managed services to its already robust suite of global information and communication services. SITA SC, a leading provider of network and communications solutions to the air transport industry, will now resell Aventail's leading SSL VPN technology to its 1,800 customers worldwide, which includes 22 of the world's top 25 airlines and over 200 major airports.

By partnering with Aventail, SITA SC adds SSL VPN capabilities to securely connect mobile workforces and business partners to network resources from virtually any location, or any computing device. With Aventail's SSL VPN, organizations can designate and control user access and eliminate expensive direct network connections, all while supporting a broad set of access requirements and user authentication methods. The strategic relationship with Aventail further advances SITA SC's position as the leading provider of a full portfolio of public and private Internet Protocol access solutions to the air transport industry.

"The partnership with Aventail enables our customers to use the Internet securely as a business tool. The demand for SSL-based solutions is growing and we want to be at the forefront of this VPN technology. We selected Aventail because no other vendor could match the combination of product capability and experience with large global enterprise customers," said Brijdeep Sahi, vice president of marketing for SITA SC. "With the range of SSL products and services available from Aventail, we can now support all of our customer demands from high-end services to the more cost-effective solutions that the air transport market demands."

"The airline and air travel industry is striving to cut costs and improve flexibility in all areas. SSL VPNs reduce the cost and effort of setting up secure VPNs, which leads to significant cost savings," said Michael Suby, senior research analyst at Stratecast Partners. "In partnering with Aventail, SITA SC has aligned itself with a true market leader and can now address the increasing demands of its customers with proven, cost-effective SSL VPN technology."

With Aventail's SSL VPN technology, employees, customers and business partners can use a Web browser to securely access critical productivity applications from home or while traveling, using a broadband or a wireless Internet connection. Because Aventail's solution is "clientless," no client software needs to be installed on a users workstation, effectively reducing the administration costs to configure, manage and support VPN users. SITA SC joins many of the world's leading service providers who offer Aventail's SSL VPN managed service, including ANXeBusiness, AT&T, Bell Canada, IBM Global Services, Infonet, Netifice, Sprint and more.

"Partnering with SITA SC -- the world's largest provider of managed services to the airline and air transport industries -- is both testament to our leadership in the SSL VPN industry and validation of the growing demand for simple, secure remote access solutions," said Tom Claeys, senior director of strategic alliances for Aventail. "We're excited to be associated with SITA SC and look forward to working together to deliver secure enterprise-grade remote access solutions to its customers."
