SonicWALL Announces New Pro Series
Platforms
SonicWALL Inc, a leading provider of integrated security, productivity and
mobility solutions, launched the company's newest entry-level rack-mounted
platform, the SonicWALL PRO 2040, available in February 2004. Additionally,
the company announced the new sub-$10,000 gigabit-class PRO 5060, expected to
ship before the end of SonicWALL's second quarter.
"SonicWALL's highly successful PRO series platforms have always provided
innovative features and powerful performance at the industry's most compelling
prices," said Matt Medeiros, chief executive officer at SonicWALL. "The
expansion of our PRO series with the PRO 2040 and 5060 is further
demonstration of our commitment to bring value innovation to an expanding set
of customers."
Following on the heels of the popular PRO 3060 and 4060, the SonicWALL PRO
2040 packs the benefits of SonicWALL's SonicOS operating system into an
affordable, rack-mounted appliance for smaller networks. As a comprehensive
network security, mobility and productivity solution targeting networks
comprised of 50 or fewer network locations, the PRO 2040 offers the
configuration flexibility and redundancy features typically associated with
more expensive appliances. Additionally, the PRO 2040 supports SonicWALL's
advanced security services, such as anti-virus and content filtering, and can
be managed by SonicWALL's award-winning Global Management System. Bundled with
10 Global VPN Client licenses, the PRO 2040 allows easy network access from
any location, using any Internet connection, over any IP network.
Boasting a robust four-port architecture, the SonicWALL PRO 2040 provides
firewall and virtual private networking (VPN) capabilities for distributed
networks. In addition to firewall performance up to 200 Mbps, the SonicWALL
PRO 2040 features the ability to run SonicOS 2.1 Enhanced, enabling optional
upgrades such as WAN-WAN fail-over, load balancing, and object and
policy-based management.
The SonicWALL PRO 2040 ships with the SonicOS Standard operating system and
can be upgraded to SonicOS Enhanced for additional features and port
customization options. With SonicOS Standard, three ports are active and are
preconfigured as Local Area Network, Wide Area Network and DMZ. With the
upgrade to SonicOS Enhanced, the WAN and LAN ports stay static while the other
two ports are fully customizable as a second LAN, a second WAN, a DMZ, another
customized network zone, or a hardware fail-over port. With an intuitive
graphical user interface, SonicOS 2.1 is easy to configure, and can also be
administered with SonicWALL's award-winning Global Management System. SonicOS
2.1 powers the exceptional performance of the PRO series hardware and is part
of a complete, integrated security, mobility and productivity solution.
SonicWALL expects to deliver the breakthrough PRO 5060 this summer at a
price
under $10,000. This appliance will offer gigabit-class performance in a single
rack unit for more complex distributed network topologies.
"Last year, SonicWALL made a quantum leap forward in price performance with
the PRO 3060 and 4060 and opened up a new realm of possibilities for our
customers," said Todd A. Beakey, vice president of Business Development with
RSPEED Inc, a Pleasanton, Calif.-based Gold channel partner. "SonicWALL's
understanding of our marketplace is underscored by both the performance
advantages of the PRO 2040 and their plans to deliver a gigabit product in the
5060 under $10,000. These entries reinforce their leadership in this
space."
