Systems/Enterprise:
TenFold ANNOUNCES WEB SERVICES
STRATEGY
TenFold Corp, provider of the EnterpriseTenFold platform for building and
implementing enterprise applications, reported progress on its initiative to
enable Web Services development and integration in enterprise applications and
provided a perspective on the Web Services strategy for its flagship product,
EnterpriseTenFold.
Web Services are modular programs that let heterogeneous, distributed
applications exchange information over the Internet or a network using common
data formats and communication protocols. Microsoft and IBM are strong
proponents of Web Services and are backing their endorsement with hundreds of
millions of marketing dollars to establish Web Services as a new industry
standard.
"Our principal customers are market-leading businesses using
EnterpriseTenFold
to build strategically important enterprise applications like global
securities lending and policy management. These customers have repeatedly
reminded us that the industrial strength that EnterpriseTenFold brings to
enterprise application development, deployment and maintenance is their most
important consideration," said Alexei Chadovich, TenFold's senior vice
president of development. "We've been disciplined in using only proven
technologies with real business value. However, with Web Services not only
gaining mind share, but also beginning to demonstrate some specific business
value, we decided to invest the effort to provide full Web Services support in
our products."
Two major initiatives form TenFold's strategy around Web Services. First,
EnterpriseTenFold is making it easy for an applications developer to present
any part of a TenFold-powered application as a Web Service, making it easy and
fast to build high-quality and powerful Web Services. Second,
EnterpriseTenFold is making it easy to use any available Web Service in any
TenFold-powered application. Thus, as Web Services become available, a
TenFold-powered application can use them to quickly and easily add new
features or capabilities.
"Our customers want to build high-quality, powerful applications quickly,"
said Jeffrey L. Walker, TenFold's founder and CTO. "With the steps we're
taking, our customers will be able to access the benefits of the significant
advances that Microsoft, IBM, and others are making in Web Services and get
the best of both worlds -- EnterpriseTenFold Speed, Quality and Power as well
as maturing Web Services."
TenFold has been demonstrating both aspects of its Web Service Strategy to
selected customers and interested parties in advance of releasing these
technologies.
